With over 30 years of experience within the funeral business working my way up through the ranks, I went out on my own and started Danly Funeral Assistance, specialising in repatriations and supplying funeral directors with pall bearers, drivers and vehicles. This is still very much a going concern along with Medhurst Funeral Directors which I took over and own. I also run and own White Stag Direct Cremations.

With me are a highly experienced team of people who are all dedicated to, and have the ability to give families the kind of service they both expect and deserve. Working as a team we will do everything we can to deliver a funeral that fulfils your wishes in an uncomplicated but traditional way whilst respecting the memory of your loved one. If you have a specific request/wish then please just ask and we will tailor our services to meet your individual needs wherever we can. We aim to have one of our team look after you from the first call you make right the way through making arrangements to the day of the funeral.

Nicky Rose

Manager

After working for Barclays Bank in their corporate fraud department in the City for many years I took voluntary redundancy and was looking for a change of direction. I’ve been working in the industry since 2009 and consider it to be one of the best things I have ever done. My aim is to make the whole process as easy and stress free as I possibly can for you. From the initial phone call, right the way through to the day of the service I will be on call to help you every step of the way.

Steph Shepherd

Personal Assistant

I would describe myself as an animal-loving, people-loving, creative, attentive, extrovert. I have two young children, soon to be married, recently bought our family home and inherited chickens with the house, which I just think is the best thing ever. I was lucky enough to have met Nicky and Dan who gave me the opportunity to join the team. Of course I had to say yes as they are outstanding in what they do. To be able to be a part of working alongside them and the team would have been an opportunity missed if not taken. I love to care, guide and be a support network when I’m needed so my role at Medhurst is very important to me and is something I am passionate about.

Stuart Brindley

Funeral Director

After 18 years in the hospitality and catering trade, I decided I needed a change. Little did I know that it would come in the form of a chance meeting in my kid’s playground when I was approached by someone who was looking for someone to join their funeral business. At first I was apprehensive. Who wants to work with the dead, right? But then I thought about what the job actually entailed, and thought why not give it a go. It’s all about customer service surely and I had years of experience in that. 12 years on and I’ve learnt it’s about so much more. It’s about really understanding people at the worst time in their lives and gently guiding them through it. Metaphorically holding their hands through the whole process of saying goodbye makes my job one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and continue to do.

Jon Maidman

Funeral Director

After a 30 year career in the City as a Commodity Trader and Broker concentrating on oil futures I found myself at a crossroads when the futures market finally succumbed to a screen based platform. I still needed to work and was encouraged by Steve to join Medhurst as a pall bearer. Over the past few years after extensive training I have progressed to doing various roles. As someone that has always enjoyed interaction with others I have found all roles within the job most rewarding, offering the chance to assist families through their most difficult days.

Stuart Savage

Funeral Director

I left school and started an apprenticeship in retail which I enjoyed. I then joined a printing company and worked there for 22 years. After I was made redundant I needed work and a friend put me in contact with Medhurst. I have now been working here for 5 years and have undertaken every job role. The last being the role of Funeral Director which I am enjoying. I love working with a team of like minded individuals who are dedicated to doing their best to give families peace of mind knowing their loved one is in safe hands, and helping them through the grieving process.

Katrina Whyman

Funeral Arranger

I have two children now both adults.
I started my working life as a seamstress and left to pursue a career driving. In my role as a coach driver I drove all over Europe. When I left there I was given the opportunity to drive for Medhurst as a hearse driver and really enjoyed it. It feels so respectful taking someone on their last journey. Since then I have undertaken many roles within the company and have now trained to be an arranger. I am proud to be part of a team who are respectful, professional, and will go that extra mile for any family and be there for the whole journey.
